Turning Sorrow into Song: Silence, Absence and Unreadability in Elizabeth Rosner’s Gravity

چکیده

This article explores Elizabeth Rosner’s second-generation poetic rendition of the Holocaust, Gravity (2014), offering an insightful framework to further scholarship on intergenerational transmission trauma, examined through lens postmemorial poetry. I specifically concentrate poetry remembrance as it dwells role language and silence in representing vicarious experience Shoah. Through a sustained exploration traces inherited trauma that renders past inaccessible, simultaneously present occluded, poet endows motif with unique meaning. Surrendering compulsions verse, attempting restore what is lost, without ever succeeding, integrating legacy Old into New World, contend Rosner reaches form posttraumatic growth only made possible engagement.
